About

Andrea Bussinger, M.Ed., PCC is a counselor, yoga instructor and writer with a passionate interest in the mind-body connection. This passion led her to a Integrative Yoga Therapy teaching certificate in 2005, after which she designed and taught "Chakra Yoga" classes in local studios, helping students learn about the chakra system as a tool for holistic personal growth. She also taught beginner's yoga focusing on mindfulness-based stress reduction. After completing her Master's Degree in 2009, she became a Licensed Professional Counselor, and counseled abuse survivors, as well as violent offenders, for the next 3 years. Mindful self-awareness, healthy relationship skills, and mind-body integration were helpful for her clients in their journey of forging healthy relationships, healing their trauma, and claiming their power to create a better life. Through these experiences, she understands that lack of dialogue around emotional health creates barriers to personal and societal healing. A writer since age 9, she hopes to help close the communication-gap between body and mind, self and other.

This blog will offer resources, information, and occasional poetry about the mind-body connection. It explores questions: how can we create a world in which the body speaks alongside the mind? In which our relationships support our highest selves? How can we change our brains, and our lives? Chakras, yoga, mind-body integration, and mindfulness are some of the topics you can explore here.

About Me
A native of Ohio, I moved to Toronto to join my husband in 2013, and have stumbled into a vibrant community of healers and brilliant people here. Besides writing, I also enjoy geeking out about retro fashion, playing music, nature, and dancing. Thanks to a relatively adventurous life, I feel comfortable with people of all races, socio/economic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and faiths. Specific questions about my expertise in diversity-specific issues are welcome, and I will answer truthfully and provide a referral if needed.
